With newspaper headlines predicting arctic weather conditions in most areas of the UK thiscoming Winter, many of you may be studying whether winter tyres are suitable for your fleet.Cold weather tyres, or “Winter tyres”, are designed to be able to be more effective intemperatures below 7 degrees C. They have a larger percentage of natural rubber and silica in thecompound which doesn't harden up as much as synthetic rubber in cold conditions, compared tostandard tyres.

These tyres are usually available from October, and can remain on the vehicle until the followingMarch or April. They were not available in the UK market until a couple of years ago, and enquiriesregarding them have increased over the years. If you wish to use Winter tyres it means that twosets of tyres are required for each vehicle, a summer set and a winter set. Our tyre supply partnerKwik Fit, have arranged storage facilities at a central warehouse, where the tyres not currentlyfitted to the vehicle are housed in the tyre “hotel”.

It is estimated that there will be a 5% use of winter tyres in the UK during the coming months. AllTCH Leasing maintained contract vehicles have a no quibble tyre policy, based on replacingstandard tyres for fair wear and tear or accidental damage. This policy does not relate to fittingwinter tyres. Essentially the supply of winter tyres is another set of tyres for the vehicle, and not apermanent replacement of the original equipment.

If you are interested in fitting winter tyres, we are able to assist you by working with Kwik Fit toorder the correct specification tyres, arrange fitment and hotel storage facilities. We can arrange arecharge facility for the cost of winter tyres, but we will need written authority of an officialpurchase order from your organisation. Alternatively, you can contact your nearest Kwik Fitbranch and arrange payment direct at the branch.

Customer service and the overall satisfaction of our clients has always been a key measure at TCH Leasing and we regularly seek the opinion of our customers. In our most recent survey we talked to all customers that had taken delivery of a new vehicle in the month of March and the survey covered the core areas of customer interaction from initial contact and quotation through to the collection of the vehicle at the end of its lease period.

In the 9 separate process areas surveyed we achieved a score equal to 89% customer satisfaction a result that we at TCH Leasing are extremely proud of!

For the first time we also included a Net Promoter Score (NPS) question which identifies the percentage of our clients that would recommend our service to a third party. and we achieved a creditable score of 78%.

NPS is a measurement against one question, ‘would you recommend our service to a colleague or business associate?.’

Marks 9 or 10 are deemed Promoters

Marks 7 or 8 are deemed neutrals

Marks 6 or below are deemed detractors

To calculate your NPS score, neutrals are ignored and the detractor number is taken from the Promoter number and the balance is reflected as a % of the total number of clients asked the question.

Obviously there is always room for improvement and we are currently analysing the results from the survey to find ways to further improve our service delivery and we would like to thank all customers that participated in the brief survey for helping us better understand what we are good at and where we have room for improvement.

The Road Traffic Act 1988 S.143 requires that anyone using avehicle on the road or public place must be insured. Unless avehicle has been declared “off-road” Continuous Insurance enforcement Regulations will make it an offence to be theregistered keeper of a vehicle that is uninsured. The DVLA isto begin direct comparison of registered vehicles with theMotor Insurance Database, held by the Motor Insurers' Bureau,and will shortly begin issuing enforcement letters to theregistered keeper. Failure to correct the omission will result inthe issue of fines by DVLA beginning at £100 which will escalateup to £1,000 and the possibility of criminal charges for persistentfailure. However, only the operators of leased or contact hire vehiclesvia their insurers are in a position to register the vehicle as insured.Indeed, insurers via their trade association are required to register vehicles as part of their duty of care to their customers. In this situation, contract hire companies, as the registered keeper, will begin contacting hirers in respect of any omission and recharging fines together with handling fees.

You don’t have to be driving to be caught. It is now an offence to keep a vehiclewithout insurance unless you have notified the DVLA that your vehicle is beingkept off the road and have a valid Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN).These new measures are in addition to the powers the police already haveto seize an uninsured vehicle and fine the driver.

To avoid unwelcome administration and the possibility of fines with charges, ensure that your insurer is registering all the vehicles that you operate on the Motor Insurance Database on a timely basis.
